Get the Most From Your Workouts - Wednesday Workout Tip

How to Keep Your Workouts Effective Even at Max Weight

effective muscle building and workout tip To get the most from your workouts you have to constantly be increasing the tension or stress you put your muscles under.

For beginners this is pretty simple to implement. You just gradually add weight as they get stronger.

It would be nice if you could do this forever but alas all good things must come to an end. If they did not we would all be bench pressing 1000 pounds eventually.

More experienced trainees cannot work with their heaviest weight day in and day out either. This can lead to a lot of soreness in the joints and stagnation in progress.

So how does someone continue to add stress to the muscles when progressive resistance comes to its inevitable end?

One way is to lower the weight you use by 35-40% and focus on more speed on the concentric portion of the rep as well as shortening the rest periods between sets.

This will still work the muscles hard and will also allow you to get a few more sets in overall.

After a 4-6 week training cycle of lower weight with more focus on speed and power you will be ready to build your way back up to a personal best.

Enjoy!
